Employment Law Update 2025: What employers need to know about Labour’s changes

You’d be forgiven for thinking you’d already got your head around everything you needed to know about the forthcoming employment law changes – but since the publication of the Bill back in October, four separate consultations and calls for evidence have been launched, to refine and support the implementation of the reforms.
We now have a clearer indication of the Government’s thinking on a range of matters including collective redundancies, enhanced protection for agency workers and SSP changes.
The Bill is now with the Public Bill Committee for detailed scrutiny and it’s no coincidence that it’s expected to report back by the 21 January 2025, just a few days before our Update Seminar on the 23rd – we do love a challenge here at Torque Law and there’s nothing like some hot off the press material for an update event!

- Removal of the qualifying period for unfair dismissal and the added flexibility during an employee’s initial period of employment.
- Expanded employment protections for zero-hour and agency workers
- Employers’ equality action plan requirements
- Extension of limitation periods for presentation of Tribunal claims
- Enhancements to family friendly leave and pay.
- Any other legislative changes and developments which we think you need to know about.
