The Parental Bereavement (Leave and Pay) Act 2018 has received Royal Assent. Further details about the entitlement, such as whether it will be paid or unpaid, will be published in supplemental regulations but it is expected that employees who suffer the loss of a child under 18 will be entitled to 2 weeks away from work under the new law. Current indications are that the Government will introduce the new law from April 2020 so plenty of time, in theory, to flesh out some of the missing detail.
