Comment: Schools returning on 8th March

The day is almost upon us!

Many parents are giddy with excitement, (myself included), as they count down the days/hours/minutes/seconds to schools re-opening.

Amongst all the euphoria, however is the need for schools, (in keeping with any other employer), to ensure compliance with their various statutory and contractual obligations to provide a safe working environment.  Trade unions have been vocal in setting out their concerns and warning employers that they will support members who feel their safety is being impinged. Some staff may refuse to return.

Whatever the sector,  appropriate risk assessments and communications to staff are essential in order to mitigate such risks and ensure compliance.
