Employment Rights Bill Update 2026 - York

Employment Rights Bill Update 2026

The Employment Rights Bill will introduce significant changes to employment law.  To enable employers to plan ahead, the Torque Law team will take a focussed look at those changes and the steps which employers can be taking to best prepare their organisations and management.

While you enjoy a delicious breakfast in a beautiful venue, we will provide an insightful and detailed look at the legislative changes employers need to be aware of.  There will also be ample opportunity to ask questions and share knowledge with your HR peers.

The topics for discussion will be finalised nearer the time depending upon progress of current consultation and implementation plans, but we anticipate covering:

  • Day 1 unfair dismissal rights and the introduction of a statutory ‘initial period of employment’
  • Family friendly rights and pay including protection for pregnant workers, bereavement leave, paternity and parental leave changes
  • Equality law developments including enhanced duties to prevent sexual harassment and diversity action plans
  • Changing contractual terms and the effective abolition of ‘fire-and-rehire’
  • Flexible working plans including zero hour contracts, right to request flexible working
  • Collective redundancy thresholds and compensation
  • Trade Union reform
  • Enhanced whistleblower protections
  • Pay arrangements – including SSP and tips
