Meet the team: Introducing Tabitha Graddon
Our meet the team series continues as we introduce Tabitha Graddon, our Legal Practice Assistant.
Introduce yourself and your part in Team Torque.
I have recently joined Torque Law as a Legal Practice Assistant alongside completing my Legal Practice Course at York St John University. I have studied a few areas of law so far, with one of my favourites being employment. I enjoy the complexities of employment law and using my ‘problem solving’ skills to navigate my way through ambiguities and come to a desirable outcome. I was really excited when I learnt of the opportunity at Torque Law and then even more excited when I was offered the position!
Who/what inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
Although it’s quite cliché, I have always liked the idea of being a lawyer, with my first mention of it being in primary school (although this quickly turned into the short-lived idea of being a hairdresser!). Although I’ve had different ideas throughout my childhood and teenage years about what I wanted to do as a career, I’ve always come back to my enjoyment of law. I’ve always liked the detective work involved in solving disputes and putting across my argument in discussions. I once came home to my family after high school one day and was so excited that I had joined the ‘argument club’! I had actually joined the debate club but that didn’t really matter to me as I was doing something I enjoyed… arguing until the other side agreed that I was right!
What energises you at work?
What energises me the most is that every day is different and there is always something interesting going on or an exciting challenge to get stuck into, which makes each day fun (and there is also an endless supply of peppermint tea and Pip cuddles!).
What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
Most of my spare time is taken up by my little zoo (I have two cats, three rabbits and two guinea pigs myself, along with a small herd of family pets) so you would most likely find me in the garden with my rabbits and guinea pigs, usually covered in sawdust!
Do you have a favourite country?
My favourite country is Japan, specifically the prefecture of Nara. I went to the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan and was given the opportunity to visit Nara, Tokyo and Hiroshima. All three places were beautiful but visiting Nara, surrounded by its tradition and history, and feeding sacred deer is something I will never forget.
