Mock Employment Tribunal

Mock Employment Tribunal

Thursday 8 October 2026 | The Guildhall, York

Join us for an immersive half-day Mock Employment Tribunal at York’s historic Guildhall, where a fictional case will be heard in the impressive Victorian Council Chamber overlooking the River Ouse.

This year, our popular Mock Employment Tribunal has a bit of a twist – our scenario is set in the future!

Our case will assume that the events in question took place after 1 January 2027, enabling us to explore the practical impact of the Employment Rights Act 2025 reforms before they become everyday workplace reality. In addition, and based on trends we see emerging in claims we’re handling, we’ll be looking at the use of AI in workplace disputes, Gen Z style interactions and neurodiversity.

This unique approach will offer employers, HR professionals and managers a rare opportunity to see how emerging workplace challenges and legislative changes will play out, not only in workplace decision-making but during a Tribunal claim process.

Our focus will be on what lessons can be learned today to avoid costly mistakes tomorrow.

Whether you’re preparing for the impact of the Employment Rights Act 2025 or trying to understand the implications of AI in workplaces disputes, this event will be one not to be missed.

A Tribunal for the post-Employment Rights Act 2025 era

As with our previous Mock Tribunal events, we’re using specialist employment barristers to work alongside Team Torque to bring to life a range of issues employers are likely to face in the years ahead, including:

  • Unfair dismissal claims under the new six-month qualifying period
  • Increasingly common age discrimination allegations by “Gen Z”
  • Challenges for employers arising from neurodiversity in the workplace
  • How AI-generated content may affect workplace investigations and decision making
  • The impact of AI in Tribunal claims and submissions
  • The challenges of dealing with key witnesses who have left the business

By attending, delegates will:

  • Gain a practical understanding of how Employment Tribunal hearings operate
  • See how workplace decisions are examined and challenged under cross-examination
  • Understand how legal arguments are presented and tested
  • Learn how evidence can be challenged during proceedings
  • Gain valuable insight into how tribunals may approach AI-related issues
  • Identify common and avoidable mistakes that can significantly affect case outcomes
  • Hear the Tribunal’s Judgment delivered live and understand the reasoning
  • Take away practical lessons to apply immediately within their own organisations

Following the Judgment, our panel will analyse the case, explain the key legal and practical lessons, and discuss how employers can prepare for the changing employment law landscape.

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions before networking with fellow delegates over a buffet lunch.

Who should attend?

This event is ideal for HR professionals, business owners, senior leaders, line managers, in-house legal teams or anyone responsible for managing people who would benefit from understanding how workplace decisions play out at Tribunal without the cost, stress and disruption of a real claim.
